Please note: This area is still new and many changes may take places as more info are found. Please check back for updates!
(More images will be added in the next toxic spill)

“A spill of toxic waste has happened at the Laboratory! The Toxic Spill has polluted the opening of the Burroughs River causing the mice there to mutate into powerful monsters! Read on to learn how hunters can help hunt the mice there and clean up the pollution.”

Area Info

This area open at random times as the contamination level near the laboratory rises. Before you do anything, first you need to understand the “Contamination Levels”, this area contents 8 contamination levels and higher the level contains more powerful mice for different hunter ranks.

  • Level Eight: Archduke / Archduchess
  • Level Seven: Grand Duke / Grand Duchess
  • Level Six: Duke / Duchess
  • Level Five: Count / Countess
  • Level Four: Baron / Baroness
  • Level Three: Lord / Lady
  • Level Two: Knight
  • Level One: Hero

For hunters that have the rank of Hero or higher will have a banner displaced right above their Hunter’s Journal, notifying them the current Contamination Level.

If you have the rank equal to or higher than the displaced rank in the banner, click on the banner to travel there.

Step 1 – Preparation

Rancid Radioactive Blue Cheese

Before you do anything here, you will need to prepare your baits. A special type of cheese is needed in this area, Rancid Radioactive Blue Cheese. There is TWO ways of obtaining these:

  • Buying from the cheese shoppe with 2 Radioactive Blue Cheese, 1 Radioactive Sludge and 450 golds
  • Crafting with 2 Radioactive Curds, 1 Radioactive Sludge and 1 Ionized Salt. (Radioactive Curds are obtained from smashing Radioactive Blue Cheese)

* The two methods yields the same cost, so it’s easier to just buy from the cheese shoppe.

    • It is best to not  buy or craft a whole lot of these cheese, as this area do drop Rancid Radioactive Blue Potions and it only require 1 Radioactive Blue Cheese to convert with 450 gold.
    • If you run out of Radioactive Blue Cheese, you may craft them using 1 Radioactive Curd + 1 Salt.

(You may buy the Pollution Control Supply Kit from King’s Arm’s General Store for 25 King’s Credit each. This kit give 200 Radioactive Curd and 100 Radioactive Sludge.)

Rotten Charm

The next thing you need to prepare is area specific charms. It is recommended to arm Rotten Charms and Super Rotten Charms to catch mice that carries the loot Soapy Suds.

I suggest you arm your charms in the following way:

  • Baron/Baroness to Archduke/Archudchess – Super Rotten Charms
  • Lord/Lady or less – Rotten Charms

* This is recommended according to the difficulty of the mice in each contamination level

The recipe to craft the charms are as follow:

  • 1 Rotten Charm
    • 1 Flawed Orb *
    • 1 Stale Cheese
    • 12 Charmbits **
  • 1 Super Rotten Charm
    • 1 Flawed Orb *
    • 1 Stale SUPER|Brie+
    • 12 Charmbits **

* Flawed orbs is a loot drop in this area or at Windmill arming White Cheddar ( Crafted with 1 Curds and Whey + 1 Salt)
** Charmbits can be purchased from Mountain charm shoppe
*** Stale SUPER|Brie+ can be obtained as loot from this area or occasionally available as gift of the day

Step 2 – Cleaning the Area

Basically for each contamination level there is an amount of hunts needed to clear out the area, after that goal is completed the next lower contamination level will take place. This continues to move down from level 8 to level 1. Once the last contamination level is completed you will be back to Laboratory. There are a few things you need to do while you are here.

  • Collect Crude Pollutinum, there is a maximum capacity of storing this shown in the HUD (bottom right corner). The capacity can be increased by purchasing Barrel upgrades in the General Store. You can only refine them into Pollutinum when the spill is over.
  • Mice here also drop the three pieces of Polluted Journal Theme
  • There are many new items added along with this area, but a lot of them are still unknown to us. The follow is a list of them and the recipe known to craft them;

If you are a higher ranking hunter, enter with strong charm to catch the fat mice. Save the supper rotten and rotten charms for lower levels, as it is easier to catch mice then.

Anyone figure out the quantity of each item for crafting polluted base yet? I already know the items: 1 Polluted base Blueprints, Scrap Metal, Canister Rings, Radioactive Sludge, and Refined Pollutinum. I just don’t know how much of each item to use in crafting.

I think when the 2nd series of spills are over, the recipe should be known.

    Scum Scrubber
    Power: 3000 (Hydro)
    Power Bonus: 15%
    Attraction Bonus: none
    Luck: 13
    Cheese Effect: Stale

    • February 26, 2014 at 3:40 AM

The stats look weak, I doubt it can catch any fat mice here.
Unless it has something special, otherwise it is not a priority.

Can you provide the trap setup for this area? Thanks

    • July 2, 2014 at 2:04 AM

Strongest hydro trap for sure, base will depend on what you have.
I think washboard is the best, with super soap, soap charm in the higher ranking cleaning spill. Polluted base is the second best, but only useful when polluted charms are armed.

Can you add a bit, (unless I’m blind and missed it), for how to refine the Crude Pollutinum into Pollutinum please? (And where in your Inventory the Crude Pollutinum can be found).
